    QUOI? (An explanation.)

I come from this era of kids who have the need to compulsively document & share everything. The old lolz catch-cry of “pics or it didn’t happen” has almost become a mantra. The more my life changes & the more exciting it gets, the more intense my urge to put it all on display becomes. This is exhibitionism taken to a whole new level.

    xo GLD.

    Hello!

What’s new? Here is what’s new with me. I joined the haunted mansion. I also filled in some tax forms, paid my lawyer, bought a pack of coloured monthly Moleskines for 2010, two bulletin boards, four coats & four bottles of vitamins.

Last week I had photobooth adventures with Loulou (visiting from London) & Molly (so good to see her!), a photoshoot in Soho with Lydia, fashion show & ridiculousness with Chloe (see below), another photoshoot in the East Village with Lydia, & also The Dish came back from Las Vegas! We got to spend the whole weekend together & it was the best.

So… I took Chloe to a fashion show. We traded hair in the last couple of weeks, her hair is now red/pink & mine is white. I was feeling really sleepy & unexcited & was going to stay home, but then Chloe texted me saying she was wearing false eyelashes & to get excited! So I got dressed up, jumped in a cab & went to the show.

She & I have both been sick & not-drinking for ages, so after two drinks we were completely useless, which means my memory of the night is not so great. But it looked like this…

So The Dish was in Las Vegas on business, boooooo, & as part of the conference he attended, he went to an 80’s themed party where Huey Lewis & The News were playing!!!

I sent him a text just before I went to sleep.

    From: Gala
    To: The Dish

So envious of your Huey Lewis experience. If they play The Power Of Love, think of me :D

    From: The Dish
    To: Gala

They just did. I recorded it for you. Xoxo

Gosh, how cute. Have I mentioned recently that I love him very much?

Last night I went out for dinner with Mike Dooley, who is awesome. Did you know he is the person who gave me the idea to start the Love & Sequins podcast? Yes. It all happened during a phonecall I made from Austin, TX in March. Good times! Anyway, it was fun. This morning I wrote half of Love & Sequins #6, I would like to release it tomorrow. Also this morning I received a dog handbag (!!!) that was designed in homage to me, it has pink hair & is pretty rad. My vitamins arrived, THANK GOD, I have been whinging about not having them every day, & hopefullyyyyy tomorrowwwwwww I get my sparkly pink Fulmer helmet, YAY.

I have all these projects that I really want to get into but I am so buried under all the writing I have to do :<

I still do not know what I am going to be for Halloween! I think The Dish & I should be The Nanny & Mr Sheffield, hahahahah.

    OHHHH MISTAH SHEFFIELD!

Okay that is all for now.

    Love ever,

P.S. Hank makes the best Pocahontas.

Haha, always happy to disgust you ;D

Right now I am boredom central, I just emailed my friend to tell her I couldn’t make her event tonight because I have so much writing to do… It is pretty much just me sitting in a room playing music really loudly while I type type type. Not exciting at all!

i love love the back of your head. your hair is cut just perfectly and looks great with the blonde. i loved this post so much because of the title. it makes a lot of sense. it’s like how you can’t lie in a lifestream… because then you’d really be doing it.

    Hi Gala

I often read icing and this blog and have noticed you talking about vitamins a few times, both here and on icing and I was wondering if you were aware of the research about vitamins and how unless your doctor recommends you take them after taking bloods and finding a deficiency in your vitamin levels, that they generally do more harm to your body than good? Just a thought for you, and I’m sure you will do whatever you like, especially seeing as this is your personal blog, but I wonder if it’d be a bit more responsible to advise your icing readers that a trip to the doctors if they think they are deficient in anything might be a wise first move before throwing a handful of pills down their throat.

Sarah: depending on what vitamin it is, it won’t really do you any harm if you take them if your body doesn’t need them. Your body will just use what it needs and then rid itself of the rest.

Water soluble vitamins (the B group vitamins and vitamin C for example) can’t be stored by the body to any great extent, so if you take in more than your body needs, they are just excreted. However, the fat soluble vitamins A and D can accumulate in the body, but pose no danger to your health if consumed within the safe upper limits indicated for them. The exception is in pregnancy, when large amounts of vitamin A may pose a risk to the developing infant.

So yeah, I’m sure Gala isn’t doing herself any harm in taking vitamins, and she certainly isn’t encouraging her readers to overdose on them! Most people don’t consume enough of a variety of foods to meet the nutritional needs of their bodies anyway, so vitamin supplements are usually needed by the average person… unless you’re a dietitian and are consuming just the right amount of food from each food group on a daily basis.
